EQUIPMENT

I started out high school shooting with a Canon Digital Rebel and have upgraded my equipment as my work and experience has progressed. Photography has never been about having the fanciest, flashiest tools, but professional gear has helped me achieve the goals I have set for myself. I currently shoot with a Canon 5D mark iii and a 50 f/1.2 and 35 f/2 lens. This awesome camera + two lenses have gotten me through the best of times and I can always count on them for any shoot. I have also been known to rent lenses and other equipment  in the past, so if you have a big day or event coming up, fear not! I am more than willing to acquire the necessary tools to ensure your photos are the best they can be!

I want pictures outside of the Lancaster area, but do you travel?
Yes! In fact, I LOVE to travel. (Stay tuned for future blog posts from my trips to the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Scotland!) Contact me for my travel fee specific to your location!

What do I wear?
Be comfortable. We’ll probably do some walking around the location and it’s best if you are wearing clothes and shoes that are comfy - but also remember that you'll have these photos forever, so don't be afraid to dress up! You can pull off a lot more layers, jewelry, and even makeup in photos, so keep that in mind. Bring options to the shoot, and I would be happy to help you choose what I think will be best! If you are on Pinterest, check out my boards for some inspiration. I am an active pinner!

I’m kind of camera-shy, any advice?
No worries! I love working with people and posing them so they that are comfortable and look natural. I think it’s the moments in-between poses and expressions that are the best. If you feel like you’d be more comfortable having a friend/family member along for the shoot, feel free to invite one other person!

What if it rains?
If it rains, we have a few options! We can either strap on our rain boots, pull out the umbrellas, and get creative in the rain, photograph in a naturally well-lit place indoors with lots of windows, or we can simply reschedule!

When will I get my pictures back?
Editing is a time-consuming process. Depending on the complexity of the Client's images and the editing requirements, I allow 6 weeks for portrait sessions and 10 weeks for a wedding. I strive for the speediest delivery, but also never want to rush a session and compromise quality for time. I love to send previews over to clients, so that is always fun to receive while you wait for your final images!

Do you have a second shooter?
For portrait sessions, I do not, but occasionally bring an assistant around to help out and/or shadow! As for weddings, I always hire a second photographer. The second photographer is someone that I trust or know is capable of being helpful, friendly, and creatively shooting alongside me for the entirety of a wedding!

What is your photo editing process?
I shoot in RAW, which allows for the best quality and image detail. I use Bridge to sort the photos and edit with Photoshop CC and VSCO. My editing style is clean and natural, with a focus on enhancing already beautiful things.

I’m into photography. Can I assist, second shoot, or intern for MBP?
I love to hear that! I am not currently looking for an intern, but am always happy to meet new photographers who can assist/second shoot weddings with me! Shoot me an email. :)
